In the period between 2017 and 2022, PTB Machinefabriek entered into an important collaboration with a leading client focused on the transformation of classic Land Rovers. The aim was to reinvent these iconic vehicles without compromising their intrinsic characteristics, delivering the most exciting and enjoyable Land Rover driving experience.
When rebuilding the Land Rovers, the company disassembles, among other things, the bodies and parts of the engines of the vehicles. A notable contribution from PTB to this project was the development of a tail section for the engines of the Land Rovers. This tailpiece functioned as a front gearbox and underwent a thorough development process.
The prototype tailpiece was machined from raw aluminum, into which the contours of the new gearbox were precision milled.
The production of the tailpiece took place on PTB's four-axis CNC machining center, resulting in an efficient process. This method made it possible to process the product in different places in one fixture, without having to remove it from the machine. This guaranteed accuracy and fit dimensions.
The tailpiece prototype was so positively received that it was integrated into the regular production process, which led to numerous follow-up orders from the satisfied client.
